Hello Gene!
I couldn't resist checking out your website! This Kentucky gal likes her country music and was completely curious when you told me about your music and website. I really enjoyed talking with you and Paula this past week and I am looking forward to being able to help you out in the future with any of your IT certification needs. Do you play the mandolin? I meant to ask you that the other day, but forgot. I love the mandolin. Beautiful instrument! I don't know when you will pick up this message, but I hope that you and Paula have a nice Labor Day weekend with your family. I'll talk to you soon. Take care and you better start studying!!!! (I'm smiling)

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to come in and say hello to everone who loves traditional country music and supports it as well, by going to the radio stations, on-line, or the radio stations in your hometown via telephone and requesting the traditional artists' songs.
When you purchase a cd you not only get to listen to your favorite kind of music, but you are also casting a vote for it.
Yes!
Normally, the radio stations play what they think people will buy. Right? There is only so much time for the station to play the songs, so most stations only play the top 40 selling songs.
They base this on actual sales of the previous time period. This is where it gets tricky. Big bucks are spent to get people to buy a certain song or buy a certain artists music. If you only hear 40 songs on the radio, and this is decided by sales, you are only getting to hear music that the record label or the artist pays to get played. They make the decision as to what gets played, so actually they are making your decision as to what you have to choose from. In short, they are making your decision for you and giving you NO choice.
Thank God for the internet!
Thanks to the internet, this has changed to some degree.
Yes commercial radio still works the same, but the internet gives you a place to go where you can listen to a variety of artists, regardless of their ability to pay millions of dollars for promotion of their works.
I love traditional country music but you seldom hear it on radio anymore because soft rock has taken over country radio.
There are traditional stations still around though, and I want to personally invite you to listen to them and when you hear a song you like, buy it. you'll be sending a message to the record companies that, what they play is ok, but what we want to hear is real artist; songs that leave you feeling that this is what "country music" is suppose to be.
I believe there is a place for all types of music, and I like most types, but my heart is in traditional country. I hope you hear it in my songs.
Remember, when you buy my cds', you're casting a vote telling the industry what you want to hear on country stations, is COUNTRY!
I'll be comming in more often and chatting with you because I want you to make this your favorite site.
Maybe we'll get a "blog" started!
Let me know if you would like to come in and chat with me and others.
The one thing I an not, is selfish; Lets make this "our site"
Thanks Gene
